Buffer
Creates a new geometry expanded (or shrunk) by a distance around the input geometry.
Category: Operations
Definition (expanded)
Buffer grows or contracts shapes by a distance. In lon/lat workflows, buffering can be approximate unless the tool uses geodesic methods. Large buffers near the poles or dateline can behave oddly. Verify in a GIS if accuracy matters.
